When are new One Piece cards tournament legal?
Bandai's seven-day rule, the pre-release exception, and the exact dates for EB-05, OP-18, ST-37 and ST-38.
The short version
- Bandai's English product pages say new One Piece cards become tournament legal 7 days after the release date in your region.
- Cards can be used earlier at your local game store from that store's pre-release date, which is the one exception to the 7-day wait.
- EB-05 came out in English on 30 October 2026, so its cards are tournament legal from 6 November 2026.
- OP-18 The Dominance of God releases in English on 20 November 2026 and becomes tournament legal on 27 November 2026.
- The ST-37 and ST-38 starter decks, out in English on 18 December 2026, carry the same rule, making them legal on 25 December.
New One Piece cards become tournament legal seven days after their release date in your region. The one exception is your local store: if it runs a pre-release, the new cards are legal there from the pre-release date. That puts EB-05 at 6 November 2026 and OP-18 at 27 November 2026 for English-language events.
We took the wording from Bandai's English product pages for EB-05, OP-18, ST-37 and ST-38, checked on 30 October 2026. They all say the same thing, which is useful: you don't have to guess per product.
The rule, in Bandai's words
Each product page carries two lines. The first says cards are tournament legal starting seven days after the release date in your region. The second says they're legal from the pre-release date at your local game store. EB-05's page puts the first one more bluntly: "Tournament Legal after 7 days."
Read together, the seven days are the default for every sanctioned event, and the pre-release date is a store-level exception. A Regional, a Treasure Cup or a Store Championship in the first week after launch runs without the new cards. Your store's own launch-weekend event might not. The Treasure Cup December guide is a good example: its rules ask for cards that have been out at least seven days.
Legal dates for the next releases
| Product | English release | Tournament legal from |
|---|---|---|
| EB-05 ONE PIECE Heroines Edition vol.2 | 30 October 2026 | 6 November 2026 |
| OP-18 The Dominance of God | 20 November 2026 | 27 November 2026 |
| ST-37 The Desert Princess and the Pirates | 18 December 2026 | 25 December 2026 |
| ST-38 Baroque Works | 18 December 2026 | 25 December 2026 |
The EB-05 date lines up with Bandai's own calendar. Heroines Battle Vol.2, the store event built around Heroines Leaders like EB-05's Nico Robin, starts on 6 November, the first day those cards are legal everywhere. For what's in the set itself, see our EB-05 guide.
Double Pack Set Vol.13 and the Gift Collection ONE PIECE Heroines don't have legality text on their pages. They contain OP-18 and EB-05 packs, so we'd expect those cards to follow their set's date, but Bandai doesn't spell it out.
What "in your region" means
The seven days count from the release date where you play, not from the earliest release worldwide. Japan usually gets a set a day or so after the English edition now: EB-05 came out on 30 October in English and on 31 October in Japan, and OP-18 is 20 November in English and 21 November in Japan. The Japanese site sets its own rules for Japanese events, so check it if you play there.
Region also decides which card languages you can bring at all. Our card language rules guide has Bandai's region-by-region list.
Pre-releases and release events
OP-18's English page mentions the pre-release date, but as of 30 October Bandai's events page doesn't list a separate OP-18 pre-release. What it does list is the 4th Anniversary Event, the OP-18 release event at stores from 20 November to 17 December. Stores choose Constructed or Sealed for it.
If your store runs a Constructed event on launch weekend, ask whether OP-18 cards are allowed. Under the pre-release rule they can be, at that store. Don't assume the same for a bigger event the following Saturday.
Checking whether a card is legal for your event
Find the card's set code
It's printed on the card, like EB05-010. The prefix tells you which product it came from.
Look up the English release date
Use Bandai's products page or our release schedule. Promo versions of a card share its card number but can arrive on different dates.
Add seven days
That's the first day the card is legal at any sanctioned event in your region.
Ask your store about pre-release events
Inside the first week, only your store's own pre-release can let the card in early.
Check the banlist and rotation
A card can be new and still not legal. Run it past the current banned list and the Standard block rules.
Frequently asked questions
- When are EB-05 cards tournament legal?
- EB-05 came out in English on 30 October 2026, so its cards are tournament legal from 6 November 2026. Your local store can allow them earlier at its own pre-release event.
- When is OP-18 tournament legal?
- OP-18 The Dominance of God releases in English on 20 November 2026, so it's tournament legal from 27 November 2026, or from the pre-release date at your local store.
- Can I play new cards at my store on release weekend?
- Only if your store runs it as a pre-release. Bandai's product pages say cards are legal from the pre-release date at your local game store; everywhere else, you wait seven days.
- Does the seven-day rule apply to starter decks?
- Yes. The ST-37 and ST-38 pages use the same wording as the booster sets, so both are legal from 25 December 2026.

Stop guessing what your cards are worth
Bounty's deck builder checks the 50-card main deck, the four-copy limit and colour match with your Leader, and shows what the cards you're missing cost, so you can have a list ready for the day a new set goes legal.
