OP-17 The World's Strongest Warriors: everything we know
The 17th main booster lands in late August 2026 with six Leaders, an Elbaf-flavoured card pool and a brand-new rarity sitting above Secret Rare.

OP-17, The World's Strongest Warriors, is the 17th main booster in the One Piece Card Game and the set Bandai has built its fourth anniversary around. It arrives in Japan on 22 August 2026, with the English printing following days later rather than months — the first anniversary set to launch under the simultaneous worldwide schedule Bandai adopted from OP-15.
This page collects what has been confirmed so far and, just as importantly, what has not. Spoiler season for a One Piece set is noisy: a lot of what circulates in the fortnight before release is a rumour with a card image attached. Where something is still unconfirmed, we say so.

The six Leaders
Six Leaders have been revealed, one in each colour. That is a large Leader wave for a single set and it is the part of OP-17 most likely to move the competitive format, because a new Leader creates demand for a whole archetype rather than for one card.

The theme is legible from the roster alone: this is a set about the previous generation of monsters and the Elbaf arc, which is why Giant-trait cards and the Four Emperors are so prominent in the leaked lists. If you already play a deck built around any of those six characters, OP-17 is a set worth watching closely rather than skipping.
Treasure Rare: a new rarity above Secret
The headline for collectors is not a Leader — it is a new rarity. Treasure Rare debuts in OP-17 and sits above Secret Rare in the pull-rate hierarchy. The first confirmed Treasure Rare is an Edward Newgate character card, with a Loki Secret Rare reported as the set's SEC.
A rarity tier that sits above SEC changes the economics of a set in a predictable way. The rarest card in the set absorbs a large share of the box's expected value, which tends to pull the price of everything below it down slightly while making sealed product feel more lottery-like. If you collect rather than play, that usually argues for buying singles after the first three weeks rather than boxes on release day. What we do not know yet
- The final card count. Recent main boosters have landed around 120 cards before parallels; OP-17 is expected to be in that range but the number is not officially confirmed here.
- Treasure Rare pull rates. Bandai does not publish official pull rates, so any figure you see in the first weeks is a community estimate from opened boxes.
- Whether OP-17 arrives with a banlist update. Anniversary sets have historically coincided with regulation changes — see our banlist guide for the current list.
- Which Leaders will actually be good. Leader text reads strong in isolation and weak in a format; wait for two or three weekends of real event results.

How to approach an OP-17 launch sensibly
Decide whether you are playing or collecting
A player needs four copies of maybe fifteen cards. A collector needs one of everything. Those are completely different shopping lists, and buying boxes is a bad way to achieve either of them.
Price the deck you actually want
Add up the singles cost of the OP-17 cards your deck needs. If it is lower than a booster box, buy singles. It usually is.
Wait out the first fortnight
Launch-week prices are the least informative prices a set ever has. Supply is still arriving and speculation is at its peak.
Buy chase cards last
Treasure Rare and Secret Rare prices fall hardest in the first month as more boxes are opened. Commons and uncommons for a deck are the ones worth grabbing early, because they are cheap and stable.
Track what you already own
Before buying anything, scan your collection so you know which OP-17 reprints and staples you already have. Buying a second copy of a card sitting in a binder is the most common way collectors waste money on a launch.
